Maybe a bit hyperbolic, but perhaps science died the day that Anthony Fauci claimed to be science.
The line was delivered to Chuck Todd on June 9, 2021, and it has never stopped echoing: a lot of what you’re seeing as attacks on me, he said, quite frankly are attacks on science. By November he had compressed it further, telling a Senate hearing that he represented science. Not that he practised it. Not that he interpreted it. That he was it.
